Yesterday we held our annual Vision Day! The whole firm got together to discuss our vision for the next 12 months. Our theme was ‘Strength’ with sessions around strengthening our team, collaborations, relationships and most importantly, our care...
“NEVER TAKE FOR GRANTED WHAT YOU HAVE AND ALWAYS REMEMBER IF YOU ARE STRUGGLING THERE IS HELP OUT THERE THAT YOU CAN GET WITHOUT ANY JUDGEMENT JUST SUPPORT, RESPECT, GUIDANCE, AND STABILITY”
The Gingerbread Centre is one of the many amazing charities that we at Nowell Meller Solicitors have and will continue to support.
The Gingerbread Centre was one of many local charities and organisations that we donated handmade Christmas decorations over the festive period. These were handmade by our colleagues in their own time. These helped to bring some brightness, at what was a difficult time, to the 29 families who were living in the Gingerbread Centre temporary accommodation over the Christmas period.
For those of you that are not aware, The Gingerbread Centre support vulnerable people 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 52 weeks a year! They offer a wide range of support which includes the following:
- Temporary accommodation to the whole family
- Support and help address various matters such as benefits, budgeting, health, training, managing accommodation, domestic violence etc
- Teach life skills to parents who may have had a negative parenting experience
- Help children get into further education and help to provide them with a more certain future
- Offer long term support packages to families specific to families needs
It was remarkable to learn that through the period of April 2019 and March 2020 The Gingerbread Centre helped 81 families, supporting 90 children through many of their challenges, such as mental health, risk of domestic violence, referrals from children’s social care and young parents support service etc
The work they do to support families and vulnerable people is just incredible but in order for them to be able to continue to support these vulnerable people and families and improve the lives of parents and children, they rely on the support of the local community.
Here at Nowell Meller we are passionate about supporting our local communities and strive to make an impact across as many communities as possible. We look forward to seeing how else we can support this wonderful charity moving forward.
